A Billion MW2’s and a Partridge in a Pear Tree
Looking back on the holiday season of 2009, it’s hard to not notice the selling power of the wave that is Modern Warfare 2. According to an Activision press release today, Modern Warfare 2 has reached the $1 Billion mark for sales. Around the Gamers Only Older community, the fanfare for MW2 seems to be waning a bit. Between the inclusion of other holiday titles and perhaps the over saturation of first person shooters, I’m starting to wonder if this record breaking monstrosity is really worth all the sales it’s getting. I’m torn, is it just because it’s the newest Infinity Ward Call of Duty, or is it because it’s really just that good?
Maybe when I put down Darksiders, Bayonetta, and Assassin’s Creed 2 I’ll bother to find out, then again, White Knight Chronicles and Final Fantasy XIII are just around the corner.
