360’s Final Fantasy Comes on 3 Disc’s – Go Go Gadget Nerd Rage!

Final Fantasy EU Box ArtI fully realize that it’s the internet’s job to hate on anything that has hype surrounding it, and I’ll even admit to falling in that category at times myself.  However, there’s a new rant going around that I just don’t understand.  Via Kotaku, it has finally been confirmed that Final Fantasy XIII will ship on 3 discs for the 360, and evidently, that’s a tremendous blow for the Sony fanboys out there.  In all actuality, it probably just means that the 360 version will have more compression than it’s PS3 counterpart in terms of audio, and in the end, that allows A/V geeks of the world to blast the 360 version. These are the same A/V geeks who use their iPhone or Zune to play ridiculously compressed mp3 audio through ear-bud speakers, smaller in diameter than a dime, made by the lowest bidder on the planet.

But I digress.

I actually remember a time when having multiple discs for a lengthy JRPG was a bullet point in it’s favor.  Personally, I always enjoyed the landmark of reaching disc 3.  It’s a unique feeling in games, that you won’t get to experience for much longer.  If you have both consoles, obviously go with the PS3 for the best quality and lead platform.  If you only have a 360, don’t worry, you won’t notice the difference anyway.  To all of the haters out there, get over yourself, it’s really not a big deal.
